Artist's Comments

This is my meditation for the next few days ... one I have been contemplating for sometime now. Hexagram 43 represents the power of the Lake reaching up to heavens. This can be taken as the power of a "calling" to overcome some great personal challenge. Usually these nexus-point moments are beset with great difficulties. Problems start out small, like a tiny crack in a dam, and before too long, the flood waters of several years of accumulation burst forth. This breaking of the dam destroys the old ways of doing business. It is UNSTOPPABLE. It is also similar to how a subconscious vision can breakthrough into the conscious mind - like an epiphany - that AHA!!! where we get a clue, and the world tumbles around us as the illusions shatter.

Or as Tyler Durden would say, "It's called a changeover. The movie goes on, and nobody in the audience has any idea."

Tyrants are usually the last to understand why people hate them - they have a blind spot to their own hubris, their own crimes, their own bullshit. They live on so much of their own propaganda, and have gotten used to the rancid metallic taste of their own poisons for so long - that they seldom notice that the rules of the game have changed right out from under their own noses. Once these egotistical con artists are exposed - their first instinct is to call out the army and crush the opposition. But when no army is to be found ... they scurry to hide in the nearest hole in terror. The only thing more terrifying to a con artist being caught at their own game - is being caught at it by a more skilled opponent. And the best con to pull off, is to expose the one that lies between the ears.

But when the dam finally breaks inside our psyche - there will be no more hiding. No more memory gaps. No more excuses. The old rules don't apply. Everything is changed. The flood waters of guilt and regret will drown the darkness in sea of the blood they spilled, and the tears they caused to be shed. And thus in the end hubris is extinguished but its own blind hands. Do you sink in self pity or swim to higher ground? Sometimes, it's not an easy choice to make, when you look back on years of a totally wasted life.

Thus, we either get a clue in that last moment before we drown in our own filth ... or we learn how to rise above our old way of doing things.

It takes guts to live in your heart and speak your truth. Sometimes people hate you for it. So what. Sometimes families turn your back on you for it. And ...? If they do, then chances are they weren't your REAL family anyway.

Me ... I'd rather live on the edge of the village and be a happy outcast, than suffer the hypocrisy of living within a corrupt church that's forgotten the basics of what it means to be a human being. Yeah, they're always glaring at me - the spooky witch doctor - the guy who sleeps all day and is up all night watching the stars. Nobody talks to me in the market place. Nobody want's to know me.

But it's funny though ... how they always seem to come around when they need something that doesn't seem to be covered in their BIG BOOK. And that's cool. To be loved is always desirable - but if you can;t be loved, then at least insist on being respected ... even if that respect is expressed in silence.
